FOML seek to accomplish the following:
- Acquaint the greater community with the Library and its resources
- Supplement the library鈥檚 resources
- Host and coordinate library-related events and programs
- Develop the library鈥檚 Maryland Collection
- Develop a full collection of Sophie Kerr鈥檚 works
- Sponsor the Ralph Thornton '40 Research Prize
- Organize semiannual book sales
- Sponsor annual literary events such as readings and receptions
- Enhance special collections
