Research

Dr. Mart铆n Ponti is an Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies in the Department of World Languages and Cultures. He joined the Department in 2016 and since then, Dr. Ponti has taught courses on Spanish language, culture, and literature. His areas of research focus on the representation of LGBTQI identities in Latin American media, as well as the role of class and gender in framing national discourses on marginalized sexual minorities. 
 
Dr. Ponti currently serves as the Director of the First-Year Seminar, where he works closely with faculty, staff, peer mentors, and first-year students in supporting their transition to the academic and social dimensions of college life.
